It is currently the largest grid side electrochemical energy storage project in East China and the largest sodium ion energy storage battery project in China. The project plans to build a 300MW/600MWh energy storage power station in this phase, including 270MW/540MWh lithium iron phosphate battery and 30MW/60MWh sodium ion battery.

A total of 81 sets of lithium iron phosphate energy storage units and 9 sets of sodium ion energy storage units are set, and a 220 kV booster station is also built. The final planning of the future project is 450MW/900MWh, which is expected to be put into operation in June 2023.

The first largest electrochemical shared energy storage unit in China

On September 5, 2022, the construction of 500MW/1GWh shared energy storage power station of Jinhai Clean Energy was started. It is reported that after the full capacity of the project is completed and put into operation, it will become the first and largest electrochemical shared energy storage demonstration project in China, with an annual output value of about 300 million RMB.

After the completion of the project, it can help solve the problem of power grid security, promote the improvement of regional energy structure, and increase the proportion of clean energy transmission.

It can also effectively improve the absorptive capacity of new energy, minimize the occurrence of wind abandonment, light abandonment and other phenomena, improve the power grid operation capacity, and stabilize the safe operation of the power grid.

The energy storage industry seems to have entered a critical period unconsciously

The world’s largest single unit compressed air energy storage

At 17:00 on September 30, 2022, the international first 100 MW advanced compressed air energy storage project was successfully connected to the grid in Zhangjiakou, Hebei, China.

The project will start construction in October 2020, complete equipment installation and system integration in December 2021, with a total scale of 100MW/400MWh, core equipment localization rate of 100%, and an annual power generation capacity of more than 132 million kWh.

It can provide power security for about 50000 users at the peak of power consumption, save 42000 tons of standard coal annually, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions of 109000 tons. It is currently the world’s largest single unit and most efficient new compressed air energy storage power station.

The world’s largest salt cavern compressed air energy storage

The project is jointly invested and constructed by ENERGY CHINA STDC, CEEC, Taishan New Energy and other units. JSPDI is involved in the implementation. The first phase of the project is planned to invest 2.23 billion RMB to build a 350 MW/1.4 million kWh unit.

A 325 ℃ low-temperature molten salt heat storage and high-temperature adiabatic compression system is proposed. The design energy storage/charging time is 8 hours, and the energy release/discharge time is 4 hours. After the two phases are put into operation, the annual power generation is about 1 billion kWh.

The project adopts the world’s first low melting point molten salt high-temperature adiabatic compression technology. After completion, it will achieve the world’s first single unit power, conversion efficiency and energy storage scale in the field of compressed air energy storage, which will help promote the high-end development of new energy storage technology, promote large-scale grid connection of renewable energy consumption and reuse of waste salt cavern resources.

The world’s largest optical or thermal storage multi energy complementary integration

On September 20, 2022, CEEC and the People’s Government of Balikun Kazak Autonomous County, Hami City, Xinjiang signed the China Energy Construction Hami “Light (Heat) Storage” Multi energy Complementary Integration Green Power Demonstration Project.

The largest energy storage projects of various technologies and application scenarios are constantly refreshed

The project is located in Santang Lake area of Balikun County. It will build 1.35 million kilowatts of photovoltaic, 150000 kilowatts of solar thermal and 220 kilovolt booster collection stations, with a total investment of 8.2 billion RMB. It is planned to put into operation for power generation at the end of next year. After being put into operation for power generation, 3 billion kilowatt hours of clean power can be delivered to the grid every year.

It is known that the project will continue the peak regulation function of the power grid system, and adopt the thermal storage photothermal construction scheme. The photothermal power station will adjust the output in different periods by starting and stopping peak regulation and output reduction operation, so as to smooth the photovoltaic output curve.

At the same time, the electric heating device can further exert the regulation characteristics of the solar thermal power station, receive the abandoned wind and electricity from the grid system, and then generate electricity at the peak load to improve the peak capacity of new energy.

The largest integration of landscape storage in northern China

In July 2022, Da Tang Jilin Generation Shengyuan Taonan Xiangyang 150MW wind solar complementary “PV+” project was successfully connected to the grid for power generation, marking the completion and operation of the largest wind solar storage integration project in northern China.

The integrated project is located in Xiangyang Township and Erlong Township, Taonan City, Jilin Province, with a total capacity of 1.15 million kilowatts, including 1 million kilowatts of wind power projects in two phases, and a total of 439 typhoon generator sets will generate power by the end of 2021.

The grid connected PV project is built in the wind energy buffer isolation belt of the wind farm, with a capacity of 150000 kilowatts, and a total of 6532 groups of monocrystalline silicon solar cell arrays.

Only in September, another batch of the largest energy storage projects appeared

The supporting lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage device with a capacity of 7.5MW/7.5MWh consists of three sets of 2.5MW/2.5MWh energy storage subsystem equipment, which has the function of solving the randomness, intermittency and other shortcomings of new energy power generation, ensuring the safe operation of the power grid and the safety of power supply and consumption of users, and providing valuable experience for the national development of large-scale wind, light and energy storage complementary projects.

User side energy storage with the largest single capacity in China

On September 20, 2022, invested by China Southern Power Grid Industry Investment Group, The first group of user side energy storage projects jointly designed and constructed by Nanhai Electric Power Design Institute Engineering and China Southern Power Grid Smart Energy – Lens Technology – were put into operation.

It is reported that the total energy storage capacity of the project is 53MW/105MWh, and the average daily peak load is about 100000 kilowatt hours. It is the largest consumer side lithium iron phosphate electrochemical energy storage project in China.

The project is supported by a photovoltaic project with a total capacity of 5.9MWp, generating about 16000 kWh on average every day. It is also the largest optical storage integration user project of China Southern Power Grid at present.

China’s largest user side molten salt energy storage project in Zhejiang

On September 19, 2022, the molten salt energy storage project of QFC was successfully powered on. It is reported that the total investment of the project is about 270 million RMB, covering an area of 13 mu. After being put into operation, the annual steam supply can be 420000 tons. The green heat energy can completely replace the gas heat energy currently used by 32 printing and dyeing processing companies in the park.

The project is the largest consumer side molten salt energy storage project in Zhejiang Province, China, which uses wind power, photovoltaic power and cheap valley power in the western region for energy storage. It was officially put into operation on October 15, saving 9 million RMB of energy consumption cost each month.
